The Challenge
Design the perfect white rum at 40% ABV for making fresh tasting, mixed drinks.
The Detail
In Australia white rum has been in growth over the past few years with total rum sales up 5.8%. The opportunity to capitalise on market trends was thus met by the challenge of crafting a rum that could stand out, and succeed, within a noisy category.
Working alongside the Bundaberg Distillery team, we identified a gap within the Small Batch Collection for a white rum to be used for cocktails and mixed drinks. A rum that would not only broaden Bundaberg’s portfolio of premium rums but enable the brand to connect deeper with top tier bartenders.
Our team of drinks experts used our in-house liquid profiling system to taste 15 white rums. These in depth flavour profiles were used to inform the Bundaberg Silver Reserve Liquid – ensuring the liquid had a point of difference and that it would work perfectly as the base for the most common white rum drinks – the Cuba Libre and Daiquiri.
The Bundaberg distillery produced multiple samples for us to trial across various white rum cocktails and the final liquid was perfected for these drinks.
